The N-Town Play: Drama and Liturgy in Medieval East Anglia
Penny Granger

The so-called `N-Town Play', dating from fifteenth-century East Anglia, differs radically from the other medieval mystery plays: rather than offering a complete cycle of Christ's life, it incorporates much liturgical material. This book provides a complete reassessment of the play, setting it into its geographical, religious and political context, analysing the liturgical material in detail, and arguing that it could have been compiled for private reading as much as public staging.

PENNY GRANGER gained her PhD from the University of East Anglia.
