Studies in Comparative History
The Shelby Cullom Davis Center for Historical Studies, founded by Lawrence Stone, sponsors year-long interdisciplinary seminars focusing on particular historical themes. These volumes contain the most original and challenging of the papers presented, revised to take account of seminar discussion. Each volume offers both an introduction to a major area of historical inquiry and specimens of the research being done at the frontiers of scholarship.
