If you prefer not to use our online ordering system, orders can be posted, faxed, emailed, or telephoned through to us, in all cases please enclose one of the following methods of payment. Please also note that all our books can be ordered through your local bookshop.

   Methods of Payment

By cheque: all cheques are to be in Pounds Sterling drawn on a UK bank and made payable to "Boydell & Brewer Ltd". Please send your payment with your order.

By credit card: we can accept Mastercard, Visa or Switch cards. Please supply your card number, issue number (Switch only), security code and expiry date . For overseas customers your account will be debited in the local currency equivalent to the invoice amount. This is the simplest method of making international payments.

Giro payments: in countries where Giro payments are available, payment can be made by sterling Giro cheque or by International Money Transfer against your giro account. Such transfers should be made to our account 237 6156. Please note that Giro payments from Europe have sometimes taken eight weeks to reach us. 

We regret the following methods of payment are NOT acceptable to UK banks. 

  • i. International Money Orders, drawn on a Post Office 
  • ii. Cheques drawn on a bank outside the UK 
  • iii. Cheques drawn in a foreign currency

  Post and Packing

For books delivered within the UK = POSTAGE FREE (terms may vary on special offers, and mailings through Societies)
For books delivered outside the UK = £6.50 per book, maximum £26.00 (Standard Post)
For books delivered outside the UK = £10.00 first book, £4 each additional book. (Airmail Post)

Post Office weight restrictions apply on the Airmail service. This service can not be used if ordering multiple books or very heavy volumes.

Note: Additional postage may be charged if ordering Victoria County History titles or sets of books (eg. Collected Letters Peter Warlock, Journals of Captain Cook). Please contact us for details.

The following delivery times should be allowed: 

  • UK Delivery 4-7 days from receipt of your order 
  • Europe 7-10 days Airmail  / 10-14 days standard post 
  • Rest of World 2-3 weeks Airmail  /  3-12 weeks standard post

 Returns (UK)

If you are not happy with the goods you receive from us, you are entitled to return them, provided you notify us within seven days of receipt. We will normally allow you to return them after this period, but this is at our discretion. In either case please contact us if you wish to return goods, clearly stating the reason for return.

  Author Terms and Conditions

As one of our authors, you are entitled to 25% discount on any books that we publish or distribute. This discount will be calculated on your receipt at the end of the ordering process. If you are ordering copies of your own book, you are entitled to higher rates of discount. To take advantage of this, please contact us separately, as our online ordering system does not apply these discounts.

Postage is charged at the following rates on discounted author orders: 

Within the UK =  £3.00 per order.
For books delivered outside the UK = £6.50 per book, maximum £26.00 (Standard Post)
For books delivered outside the UK = £10.00 first book, £4 each additional book. (Airmail Post)
