Begun in 1997, the Rochester Studies in African History and the Diaspora (RSAHD) examines different aspects of African history in a variety of challenging ways, whether new or traditional.

The series includes works in any area of Africa's history; it is broadly defined with an eclectic mix of titles. Publications cover topics in economic, political, or social history. The University of Rochester Press strives to publish approximately two titles per year. Volumes in print include topics of:

  • Economic activities of peoples or regions during the colonial period

  • Effects of political turmoil upon the social and economic diaspora of the post-colonial period

  • Economic development modeling for Africa.
